Solstice Noise Procession
Project in collaboration with Janneke van der Putten and Gabriel Castillo –from Collective Aloardi. To celebrate the solstice and to conclude exhibition ‘Do It With Us’ (June 2016), we prepared an event for which we designed special dresses to dance and walk around the streets. As part of our dresses we build some circuits that react to the sun light. We mixed these sounds with Andean traditional dance music, specially distorted for this occasion. The audience joined us with some sound instruments that they brought to play during the celebration. Below some pictures of Aurora, Sajjra & Castillo, the Aloardi clan in metamorphosis some hours before the procession.
Review by Robert Hamenlijck, from FuckingGoodArt: “Yesterday evening joined an absolute great event and show in Rotterdam North. First a book presentation by Misprint-It (Patricia Pinheiro de Sousa) at print studio Drukkerij de Boog, followed up by a street parade by artist collective Aloardi (artists from Peru) to celebrate their traditional beginning of summer. They were all dressed up with masks and colourful dresses…we all had to make sound/music. The walk ended at gallery Mirta Demare for the finissage of the show ‘Do It With Us’. The artists that participated in the Filmwerkplaats workshop presented their works and around twelve 16mm projectors were spread all over the gallery. SUPER! I think this is the most exiting show I have seen in a long time.” More pictures of the event on Hamenlijck’s Facebook page: link.
